Will the United States of America change as a nation?

Natural resources are depleting. Oil prices are on the rise. When oil eventually runs out, will this change America as a nation? America is a nation on wheels. Oil running out will be detrimental to the economy, but also foreign policies. How will it obtain more oil? Will it have to go towards Middle Eastern countries and gather more oil for their own need? Or will they have another solution? Will the United States of America change as a nation?
The United States have been in a process of change, since it's formation. We've come a long way from the Articles of Confederation to today's modern Democracy.

This has taken many books on the subject. From national history, to personal histories. I mean, The Revolutionary war, versus the Life of George Washington.

As for energy, we have the technology to change now. It's just not ';cost effective'; enough, yet. Big business won't make a big enough profit, so it won't happen.

As far as oil prices go, it's a fabricated shortage, designed to drive up profits. For every expert who says we're running out, NOW!, there is another who says we can continue at our current rate of consumption for generations, before any noticeable shortage occurs.

The oil industry has a lot of advertising money, to tell us we're short. If you look, we have resources we haven't tapped into. Look at Alaska. The Russians would love to sell us oil. Why hasn't anybody tried to get it? It would drive down the price per barrel.

The sad part is, nothing will happen, until we have no choice. Follow the money yourself. Will the United States of America change as a nation?
It won't go anywhere for more oil. Here is where the free market will come into play. Oil prices will rise to the point of being unfordable, and people will look elsewhere for oil. We will remain a nation on wheels, but not gas powered wheels. Our foreign policy will definitely change, but that doesn't mean that we will abandon the Middle East. Instead, our priorities will change and we will likely try harder for a lasting peace.
Of course it will change as a nation. The question you should be asking is: Will it change soon enough to stop catastrophe, or too late?
I don't like to think about this stuff it gives me headaches!
Let's see, I do agree that it will probably not change until it is too late, but waiting is wasting, and it's all up to the children of today. They have to care if the country is going to change because soon it will be up to them.
i hope sooo!!
they will start a war with Saudi Arabia and they will claim they have weapons of mass destruction
I think terrorists are out to get America and they will do something that would affect the country and its free outlook first.

We can innovate over the longer term to address energy issues.

There should be a strategy on how to address climate change overall.

We need Al Gore for this.
I don't think change will come until it is too late unfortunately
I hope all first world nations change for the better.
