If you could change something about the history of your nation/state/country... what would it be?

I would reverse the 1973 ruling by the Supreme Court that brought the holocaust to over 40 million innocent American children...Roe vs. Wade.If you could change something about the history of your nation/state/country... what would it be?
Bush getting elected, both times. If you could change something about the history of your nation/state/country... what would it be?
The Flag. Betsy Ross shoulda put a Lion on the flag and we could have been called the land of the fighting Lions. Or Scorpions, something cool like that. Or maybe the Warriors. Not in reference to the native Americans but in reference to the 70's movie the Warriors. Land of the Warriors. Yes the warriors, nevermind about the lions or scorpions. I like the warriors.
When the Founders abolished titles, they should have abolished inheritance because it creates a decadent aristocracy that grows in power like a malign tumor. In our time, we have become a feudal dictatorship that belongs in the Middle Ages. Heirheads who receive an unearned competitive advantage should go back to the crumbling castles of Europe where they belong.
In 1843 when Mexico allowed immigrants from the US to settle Texas, which eventually resulted in Mexico loosing more than half our territory. This happened when Mexico was still recovering from the aftermath of our Independence war. Later Polk and his ';manifest destiny'; doctrine would use the chaotic political situation in Mexico due to the rebellion in Texas to provoque Mexico into a war that ended up in our Capital being occupied on September 16th, our independence day. That day, the stars and stripes flew over the national Palace in Mexico city, and not our flag. We were then obligated to sign away more than half of our country form 15 million dollars. Later in 1847, just one year after that, gold was discovered in California, making the US a rich nation. Polk invaded a rising new republic in process of turmoil to get more land, attacked a democratic nation with prospects of future development and cut us short. We still carry those wounds, and the land is still in social and immigration turmoil...the land hasn't settled yet historically speaking.

What would I change? Not having the coward of Santa Anna as president, instead of him, if Iturbide had maintained its command, that wouldn't have happened.

But we can't change history and for whatever reason, no matter how questionable now they are to us that happened, it's in the past. what will be the future of this land only time will tell.

As a response to the three thumbs down this answer generated. i am Mexican, how would you want me to be in regards to this histtorical issue? Obviuosly, I and all mexicans regret having lost what was ours to you, and all because of the ambition of one man (Polk) tied up to the cowardice and vanity of another(Santa Anna). History can't be changed as I said, but you Americans must recognize that that war was unfair in the time period that it occurred, put simply: The USA wanted land, and you attacked a nation weakened by its barely won independence to get it, there is no shame on your part to recognize this, or you will not be any less Americans or become traitors if you accept this. That land was acquired through unjust means, and that is the truth, and it will always be the truth, even afte 100 more generations pass, this will still be the truth. To face the truth is the best means to know ourselves and to work for a more prosper future in where differences can be worked out. You don't have the fault of what your father did, but you all carry a responsibility in the treatment you give to those that now have to sneak into and toil in a land that was theirs by right, by inheritance and by blood. many mexicans had to die first to free that land from Spain to make a home of their own, and many did to defend it later and loose it...and many still die triying to make it to this same land.

There is a such thing called justice, and this justice, especially the enduring justice works in time scales far exceeding that of a single human being or the present order of things. Justice will be made one day when future generations look upon that time, adn this time...and give to each what must be given.
The Mexicans wouldn't have won the Battle of the Alamo. Then, Texas would have been a much stronger sovreign nation and could have annexed areas of the Southwest such as New Mexico and Arizona under the leadership of President David Crockett. And perhaps, we would still be an independent Republic instead of a state. As a result, America would have been spared the indignity of George W. Bush!! In addition, JFK might not have been assassinated and the history of the world would be considerably different.
