Are you good at social sciences? Particularly the topic of Nation-state?

I am struggling in my social sciences class and would love some insight. If you're good with the topic of nation-state I would really appreciate some help. I first need to understand the concept and then write a 7 page essay on various points of nation-state.

A nation-state is a state, or country, that has defined borders and territory. Usually the type of people are of the same race, ethnicity etc and speak the same language. Look at Iceland which is seen as the virtual ideal for nation states as it has very low immigration.


The republic of Ireland could be seen as a nation state as it defines its borders firmly with that of southern ireland and most people fled to Eire at the creation of the republic.


The desire to establish a nation-state can be one of the most devastating ones and may result in either mass eviction of other nationalities or ethnic cleansing. (World war II - holocaust for an example)


Typcially most countries cant be considered a true nation state as all usually have some form of immigration.
